Born in Jacmel, Haiti and youngest son of Marie Gella Prince. Lucien was inspired by his elder brother Pierre S. Prince to pursue medicine, who is now the Director/Cardiac Surgeon of a hospital in Hinche, Haiti. Lucien completed his medical degree from the State University of School of Medicine and Pharmacy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 2002. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology January 2005.
After migrating to the U.S., Lucien worked at Franklin Hospital, North Shore LIJ, Forest Hills Hospital, Glen Cove Hospital, New York Hospital Queens, St. Mary’s Hospital for Children, and started his own business Express Health Services all while he completed his MBA in Healthcare Management. While working between these facilities, specifically at Express Health Services, he was able to help and take care of several patients with multiple health conditions. However, when it came to vision rehabilitation, he noticed he was limited.
After his experience during the earthquake in Haiti, he was assisting patients with other Low Vision Specialists and Optometrists. Upon his return, and working with the children at St. Mary’s Hospital (Bayside, NY) with multiple disabilities including visual impairment, he wanted to be part of the solution. Lucien then pursued his Doctorate of Optometry, Masters in Vision Rehabilitation/Low Vision Therapy at Salus University, Elkins Park, Pa. He is certified in both Low Vision and Blind Rehabilitation Therapy.
